Sioux Falls police say one man is in custody, after a domestic disturbance led to a standoff Friday night.
Police were called to a home in the 4700 block of North Timberline Road Friday evening. The caller said her boyfriend, Christopher Harkless, was upset and had a rifle. She told the 911 operator that she was fearful he was going to do harm to the people inside the home. During the phone call, Harkless fired a shot outside the home. The woman and a friend were able to leave the home after Harkless locked himself in a bathroom.
Emergency Response Teams from both the Sioux Falls Police Department and the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office were called to the home and resolved the situation after a brief negotiation with Harkless. No one was hurt during the incident.
Harkless was taken into custody for one count of Aggravated Assault Domestic, one count of Aggravated Assault, one count of reckless discharge of a firearm, and one count of possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated. He is being held in the Minnehaha County Jail.
Traffic on Timberline Road was blocked off during the standoff.
