Make-A-Wish sends Seneca girl to Hawaii

Posted: Updated:

Make-A-Wish continues to touch the lives of kids all over South Dakota. Alison Simon is 16 years old, and it was only 2 short years ago that her life took quite a turn.

In 2011 Alison found out she had a life-threatening medical condition called Wegener's disease. This disease took control of her kidneys, and she needed a transplant. Luckily her father was a match, and they went forth with the procedure that had a happy ending.

After the successful surgery Make-A-Wish granted the Simon's a free trip to anywhere Alison wanted. She chose to go to Hawaii, so she could ride horses by the ocean.

The Simon's said they had a fantastic time on their vacation, and Alison's mother, Colleen says, "It was a wonderful celebration."

Make-A-Wish South Dakota has granted over 1,000 wishes since it began in 1984.

You can help make wishes come true, during the Wishes in Flight campaign this Thursday. KSFY is partnering with Make-A-Wish South Dakota and collecting unused frequent flyer miles.
