For a team that barley finished above "500" last year, Northern State is sure beating expectations.
"Well it has been a fun year. We were picked ninth in our conference and right now we're second," "Northern State Head Coach Curt Fredrickson said. "We had a lot of kids back."
"We've used those pre season rankings as a really big motivator," Senior Allison Kusler added. "We've been doing really well with it."
Northern State has used their veteran leadership, like Kusler to take them to the next level.
"She's a solid player. She has been around the block, started three and a half years now," Coach Fredrickson said of his senior. "She can hit the outside shot, she can go to the basket, she can post, and she can hit the mid range shot. There are not a lot of things she can't do."
While the hometown senior has been leading the Wolves on the court with her play averaging over 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game, Kusler knows that when it comes to postseason play the Wolves will need to do what every team great team does, survive and advance.
"When we get into postseason play we are going to do everything we can to get as far as we can. It's been a big deal as a senior. You always want to go out strong, and we've been doing great. I don't think I could ask for much else. You're going to win and lose games, that is just how it goes."
For Kusler and the Wolves they have won plenty more than they have lost this season, and their playoff journey continues at the Sanford Pentagon.
