Sioux Falls celebrates Stars, Statues and The State
While Hollywood heavyweights gathered in Los Angeles for Sunday night's Oscars, hundreds also celebrated the big night in Sioux Falls.
They gathered at the Stars, Statues and The State event at the Icon in downtown Sioux Falls. It was a fundraiser for the State Theatre.
Crowds were greeted at the Icon with a red carpet that led them inside to a champagne reception. After a little mingling, it was off to dinner. Of course, there were several screens for people to catch the awards ceremony.
With a crowd of nearly 250 people, organizers are calling it a great success for a great cause.
"Everybody has to invest in the State Theatre if it's a value to them," said State Theatre Executive Director Steve Williamson. "We'll get it open, its not that it is not going to open, it's going to open and we'll stay out there as long as we have to to get the place open. We've got some work to do, but the hardest part is done."
$105,825 in donations have been collected at the event. More than $2.5 million has been invested in The State's rebirth.
