State tax revenue concerns South Dakota lawmakers

Posted: Updated:

One thing that concerns South Dakota lawmakers this session is the state's tax revenue.

State Senator Deb Peters told KSFY News last week the numbers are lower than expected.

"Some of the concerning items, a couple of trends that we don't like that we've seen since we saw January numbers come in, the January sales tax number and medicaid are showing a softening of our revenue," Sen. Deb Peters said.

KSFY News spoke with Peters again Sunday. She says the numbers haven't changed, and they don't paint a rosy picture for South Dakota. A formal revenue projection will be presented on March 10.
