DCI looking into Director of Corn Palace's resignation

Posted: Updated:

The Department of Criminal Investigation is now looking into the circumstances surrounding the resignation of Corn Palace Director Mark Schilling.

Mitchell Mayor Ken Tracy told us he'd heard about financial wrong-doings, including concession stand receipts. That's why he asked for a state audit.

The audit won't be made public for a few weeks, but Shilling says he did nothing wrong and "it's time for a change."

Tracy disagreed, "That wasn't necessarily the case. I just want to set the record straight. I felt it was warranted and justified to ask for his resignation in light of the failure to follow those procedures."

Assistant Corn Palace Director Jeri Mickelson is serving as the interim Director. The Corn Palace will undergo a major renovation in May.
