Local SF realty office gets top selling honor

Posted: Updated:

The local housing boom continues and one real estate company is being recognized for its part. The Keller Williams Realty office in Sioux Falls got major honors and a number one ranking from 2013.

It's no secret Sioux Falls has seen growth with everything from homes to businesses. While the weather may have hindered winter sales, city leaders and Keller Williams agents say the time to buy is now.

Keller Williams Realty sold more homes in 2013 than any other of the 700+ Keller Williams franchises worldwide. For many at Thursday's announcement, it's no surprise. There's a lot happening in Sioux Falls.

"With all the people who move here every year, some 3,500 people, they need a place to live. For those who have been here awhile, now they're moving and selling. That's great for real estate, banking, home builders. The industry proves it's a great time to be in Sioux Falls," Council Member Greg Jamison said.

Keller Williams Realty Sioux Falls co-owner Tony Ratchford says the journey hasn't been easy. Selling homes is dependent on so many factors.

"As we start to see more development, in new construction in the last year and this year, we're a little short in inventory but the weather has something to do with it. As the snow melts and we come out of this deep freeze, buying power is good, economy is good," Tony Ratchford said.

In the last 35 years he's done real estate, he's seen the city grow. Additionally, there's not much of a weakness in the market.

"The market now is starting to pick up. The cold weather slowed us down but it'll be a great spring and another good year," KW agent Tara Allen said.
