Former Sioux Falls daycare provider pleads guilty to neglect

A former Sioux Falls daycare provider pleads guilty to charges from 2011.

Connie Edwards was charged with contributing to the neglect of a child, and providing a false police report. A four-month-old baby died in her home June 30, 2011.  Shortly after the incident, her license was revoked because the health department found she had too many children in her care.

Edwards initially pleaded not guilty, but Thursday she entered a plea deal with the state.  By pleading guilty, she agreed to a two-year sentence.  Under the plea agreement, the maximum amount of time Edwards will spend in jail is 10 days.  Her sentencing is set for April 17.
