SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Jury selection begins Monday for the sentencing hearing of a man who killed a Sioux Falls woman as part of a cross-country plot to assassinate the president in July 2011.

Attorneys in the case of James McVay discussed final motions on Friday before they start picking a jury who will decide if McVay gets the death penalty.

McVay walked away from a transitional unit at the South Dakota State Penitentiary and killed 75-year-old Maybelle Schein. He pleaded guilty but mentally ill to the crime and faces execution.

McVay's attorneys made a final motion to prohibit some of the gruesome pictures of Schein's body from being shown to jurors.

Prosecutors say the pictures are needed to show the 'length' and 'depth' of the nine stab wounds.
