Man sentenced to life for sex trafficking

Posted: Updated:

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A man convicted of running a house that preyed on vulnerable young women has been sentenced to life in prison on sex trafficking charges.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Mohammed Sharif Alaboudi ran a "house of horrors" two blocks from downtown Sioux Falls that drew homeless, addicted teens looking for food, shelter and drugs.

Johnson says Alaboudi kept his victims high on drugs and alcohol while forcing them to engage in sex acts with strangers. The men came to the apartment and paid Alaboudi with drugs and money.

Judge Karen Schreier on Monday gave Alaboudi four concurrent life sentences on the charges.

Johnson says investigators were able to break the case with the help of a brave 14-year-old girl who had the courage to tell her story.
