Touchstone Energy Scholar Of The Week: Danika Pollreisz

Posted: Updated:

Tonight's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Danika Pollreisz, a senior at the Ethan High School.

Danika has a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

She's in band and choir and plays both volleyball and basketball.

We were able to spend some time with her to find out how she does it all.

Danika Pollreisz is busy from her first class in the morning until her final class in the afternoon. She is working through a lot of different things right now. "This semester I have AP English right away in the morning, then I have English 4, Social Issues, Chemistry, Senior Math and then Hospitality and Tourism."

The Math and Chemistry classes might have caught your attention in that list. Those are tough courses but they are also the classes that Danika has a talent for. "I've always been good at math and I just felt like that was the direction I kinda needed to go down. And I enjoy chemistry too."

Danika's 4.0  grade point average is the result of intense focus and hard work.
McKenzie Frerichs is Danika's English teacher. "Danika is just an awesome student. She is a great role model, not only to the peers in her classroom but also to the younger classmen as well. That's noticeable. She was homecoming queen, she is on student council, she's on NHS, she does stats, she is just a well rounded person."

Just another few months and Danika will graduate high school and she has solid plans for the fall. "Next fall I am going to go to school at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for Chemical Engineering."

And after college, Danika says she wants to get a job in South Dakota and stay here...because she says she really likes it here.

For being named our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Danika will receive a $100 scholarship from Central Electric Cooperative Association, which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
