The Big Dance started for the men earlier this week.

And the women's tourney gets going tomorrow.

As for the Yotes, their journey toward a title and Ames, Iowa started Thursday.

A big crowd showed up for the send off, including one familiar alumnus.

The USD Coyote women are heading off to their big game against Stanford.

"I'm pumped. It was hard to even concentrate in class this entire week. Just looking forward to this day where we finally get to leave and go down to Ames," said guard for the Yotes, Kelly Stewart.

She said everyone at school was wishing her team luck, "It's awesome. We just feel honored that so many people care about us and want to support us."

Fans, family and friends sent off their bus to Ames, Iowa, Thursday.

And one alum you may not expect.

Sen. John Thune waved the women off and has faith in their performance.

"This is a hot team they play well they play really well together and they play with a lot of intensity," he said.

Sen. Thune wants them to remember one thing, "enjoy the moment you don't get many chances like this in life and this is something that will be with them forever."

KSFY's Matt Peterson will be in Ames with the Coyotes.

He will keep us updated on air, online and through social media.
