Getting to know City Council candidates for At-Large "B" Seat

Posted: Updated:

Before you cast your vote, Tuesday, make sure you are well-informed on all the candidates and issues. We've been introducing you to the candidates on KSFY News and now we take a look at the candidates up for the At-Large City Council seats.

Five candidates, only two seats divided up into "A" and "B".

Candidates for At-Large Seat "A" include incumbent Rex Rolfing, Emmett Reistroffer and Manny Steele. Candidates for At-Large Seat "B" include Denny Pierson and Christine Erickson as former member Jim Entenman has finished his term.

With signs in place and a campaign in full swing, two people are vying for one of two At-Large City Council seats. Denny Pierson and Christine Erickson are campaigning for the At-Large Seat B.
Christine Erickson spent two years in the Legislature. Now, she's hoping to bring a young, fresh face to the City Council.

"I felt that being able to serve at a more local level and giving back to the community I've been in for 12 years was important," Christine Erickson said. "To represent young families, as a small business owner and with my legislative experience, I though it could serve best here locally in Sioux Falls."
Like Erickson, retired insurance agent Denny Pierson also spent time in the Legislature. Heavily involved around town, including the city's planning commission, Pierson says he's ready to serve on the council.

"I want to bring my experience and my desire to listen to people and what I'd like to see happen is the continued prosperity and look into more and more opportunities for career level jobs where people can afford to buy their home and send their kids to college. We've done a fairly good job but more can be done," Denny Pierson said.
Both candidates encourage everyone to vote, Tuesday.
