South Dakota gas prices lower than national average

Posted: Updated:

South Dakota's average price for regular self-serve gasoline stands at $3.52, two cents above one month ago, but down slightly from last week.

Fourteen states, including South Dakota, have a lower statewide gas price average today. Two states have price averages above $4 today: California at $4.05 and Hawaii at $4.29.

Retail gasoline prices in 36 states have moved higher over the last week led by increases in the Southeast and Gulf Coast caused gas production issues. A number of Texas refineries have been offline. They're down for planned or unplanned maintenance, fueled by the switchover to production of cleaner-burning summer gasoline blends.

Today's national average pump price is $3.586 per gallon, three cents higher than one week ago and a dime more than one month ago.
