10-year-old girl killed in Minn. hay bale fire was youngest of four

Posted: Updated:

A 10-year-old girl died last night after a hay bale fire on a farm in rural Adrian, Minn.

The Heideman family reported 30 round hay bales on fire one their farm at 25773 Ahlers Avenue around 7 Thursday evening.

When fire crews arrived, the family told them their 10-year-old daughter Perri Maylean Heideman was missing. Neighbors came out to help search for the girl.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found her body among the bales.

Perri's brother, 22-year-old Ethan Heideman, told us she was the youngest of four siblings, and that his family adopted Perri when she was around 1-year-old.

He said she was a fun-loving kid who loved her animals, and he's in shock by the sudden loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
