Posted: Updated:

A Parker teen died in a one vehicle crash approximately 10 miles west of Sioux Falls Highway 42.

Tonya Anderson, 16, of Parker was a passenger of Shadd Larry Tullis, 17, of Harrisburg. He was driving a 1995 Honda Accord eastbound on S.D. Highway 42 approximately 10 miles west of Sioux Falls. He attempted to pass two vehicles on the roadway and encountered a westbound traveling vehicle in the roadway. Tullis attempted to steer back into the eastbound lane but lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle started to go sideways on the roadway and entered the south ditch and struck a utility pole, which caused the vehicle to swing around and come to rest on its wheels. Anderson sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Tullis was air lifted to a hospital in Sioux Falls with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Neither was wearing a seat-belt.

No further information is immediately available.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office and Hartford Area Fire and Rescue assisted.
