Deputy shot in northern Minnesota

Posted: Updated:

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Authorities in northwestern Minnesota say a suspect has been arrested for shooting a sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the Norman County deputy was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The BCA says the deputy was conducting a traffic stop about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday near Perley. The deputy arrested one of the two occupants in the vehicle on a warrant. Authorities say the other person in the vehicle shot the deputy. The officer returned fire, but the suspect fled in the vehicle.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Minnesota State Patrol, sheriff's deputies and local police, searched for the suspect, who was located and arrested about two hours later.
