FEC report: Pressler raised less than $10K

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday marks the deadline for South Dakota's U.S. Senate candidates to file their quarterly campaign reports with the Federal Election Commission.
So far, just one of the seven candidates has shared his totals with The Associated Press.
The FEC report for former U.S. Sen. Larry Pressler shows the independent candidate took in $9,580 from individual contributors during the first three months of 2014. He also loaned himself nearly $30,000.
Campaign expenses were $27,860 during the quarter, and Pressler's account showed about $36,750 on hand on March 31.
Pressler says he devoted the first three months of the year almost entirely to gathering signatures and he'll now turn to fundraising.
Five Republicans and one Democrat are also seeking the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Tim Johnson.
