April is National Child Abuse Prevention month and in honor of it, the Sioux Falls Storm plans to spread awareness at Saturday night's game against the Wyoming Calvary.
The Storm is partnering with Children's Inn, Waterbury Heating and Cooling, Coleman and Fluxxr to raise awareness about Child Abuse. The event will seek to fulfill three main goals: to raise awareness, to encourage strong families in the Sioux Empire and to raise money for the Children's Inn.
Children's Inn offers shelter, crisis intervention and ongoing counseling to children and women who are victims of domestic violence. The shelter provides services to 554 women, last year.
Fans at the April 19th game are asked to wear blue for a 'sea of blue' in the stands, showing support for the team while matching the blue ribbon that represents the month-long awareness. Fans will find a photo booth to get their pictures taken and tag themselves in the photo on the Storm's Facebook page.
Free-will donations can be made throughout the facility, Saturday night.
The event comes just six months after the two-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson died from complications due to abuse in a Sioux Falls hospital.
