Family displaced after Tea house fire

Posted: Updated:

A family of four is without a home after a house fire early this morning.

The fire started around 2:15 a.m. on Dorothy Road in Tea. The family heard smoke alarms, got out of the house and called 911. When fire crews arrived on scene, flames were through the roof of the garage and had reached the roof of the house.

It took crews 45 minutes to put the fire out, Tea Assistant Fire Chief Steven Oberle said. Firefighters were at the home until 6:30 this morning, putting out hot spots.

Oberle says no one was hurt, and the cause of the fire is still undetermined. The American Red Cross is helping the family with food, clothing and lodging.
