Police searching for weekend robbery suspect

Posted: Updated:

Sioux Falls police are looking for a man they think robbed one casino and tried to rob another late Saturday evening and early Sunday morning.

The attempted robbery was just before midnight at Ace's Casino, 1316 S. Cliff Ave. A female clerk was alone in the casino when the suspect demanded money at gunpoint.

She ran into a back room, locked herself in and called police. The suspect left without money.

Just about 20 minutes later, around 12:15 a.m., a man held up Connexions Casino, 5409 W. 41st St. The female clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. She and the three other patrons in the casino at the time were uninjured.

Public Information Officer Sam Clemens tells KSFY News police are searching for a Native American or Hispanic male, around 5-foot-7-inches, of medium build. He was wearing a dark colored coat and pants.

Surveillance video hasn't been released from either casino, but it did help police connect the two crimes.
