Sioux Falls stabbing victims refuse to cooperate with police

Posted: Updated:

Three people were taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with stab wounds this weekend, but because the victims weren't cooperative with police, no one faces charges.

Around 10 on Friday night, someone walked into Mercato's, 631 W. 11th St., and said two people had been stabbed. Police found a 38-year-old man from Sioux Falls were a stab wound on his neck. He was treated and released. The 28-year-old victim suffered "pretty deep" cuts to his neck, hand, face, shoulder and back of the head. Public Information Officer Sam Clemens says the 28-year-old victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a Sioux Falls hospital.

A third person -- a 38-year-old man from Sioux Falls -- was treated at the hospital for cuts on his hand. Officers believe he is the suspect, but without cooperation from the two other victims, they can't be sure.

A witness called police and said there had been a fight in an apartment complex at the 600 block of S. Duluth Ave., but the victims did not wish to press charges.
