Posted: Updated:

The man who allegedly murdered a Sioux Falls woman in April pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in a Lincoln County courtroom today.

John Richard Senn, 41, was arraigned on seven counts today: three counts of First Degree murder, Second Degree Murder, First Degree Robbery, First Degree Burglary and Second Degree Burglary. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to all of the charges.

Senn allegedly killed 53-year-old Brenda Lynn Hansen at her home in western Sioux Falls on April 16.

Officers found Hansen dead from stab wounds in her home at 5605 W. Misty Glen Place around 3:30 that afternoon.

Witnesses saw Senn leave Hansen’s home, and he was arrested just 30 minutes after the crime at his home, in the 2800 block of S. Theodore Avenue.

Senn remains in the Minnehaha County Jail on a $1 million bond.
