Reward offered for information on bald eagle killed near

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting of an immature bald eagle.

It happened approximately four miles north and two miles east of New Effington. The eagle was shot on or before May 3, GF&P officials said.

Bald eagles are protected by both federal and state law, including the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.
