Thousands join the 26th Annual Avera Race Against Breast Cancer

“We’re here to support all of the women and men who have been affected by breast cancer and their families,” said participant Andrea Seurer.

More than 6,100 runners, walkers, volunteers and supporters came out for the 26th annual Avera Race Against Breast Cancer this Saturday—all working to help find a cure for breast cancer.

“It’s a great benefit to support the patients and their families by giving them the support they need and therapy services and extra medications and everything we can do to support research while we work to fight this,” said Seurer.

Each year the race gets bigger and better, raising even more money for cancer research, but behind an event of this magnitude are faithful volunteers who are doing their part to make the Avera Race a continued success.

“My sister in law is going through breast cancer and so this its home and it's fun to come out and play a little part in this and support a good cause,” said volunteer Ivy Ulmer.

With the help of all the volunteers and participants, the Avera Race Against Breast Cancer raised more than $375,000 for breast cancer research and patient care.
