Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a house fire at 709 N Dubuque Avenue around midnight Sunday morning.
The fire began on the outside of the home and spread from ground level to the second floor window. Fire crews contained the fire to a small portion of the outside of the home. The home suffered a small amount of charring damage.
Smoke alarms did go off and wake up the residents who immediately evacuated the home. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with one support vehicle, three fire trucks, and 13 firefighters. The home did not have a building sprinkler system. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms and to discuss a home escape plan with family members.
