Teen driver causes around $150,000 in damage in DWI crash

A late night rollover and car fire caused several power outages in Sioux Falls Saturday night.

Sioux Falls Police Officers were driving near Falls Park just after midnight when they noticed a vehicle had rolled and was on fire in the 800 block of North Weber Avenue. It's estimated the juvenile driver was going between 70 and 100 miles per hour before the crash.

Officers pulled the 15-year-old driver from the burning vehicle; he was transported to the hospital where he had only minor injuries.

The collision caused power outages in the area. Video of the scene shows a line of bent or leaning power poles. Crews from the power company were in the area making repairs Sunday. Xcel Energy estimated the damage to be around $150,000.

The juvenile driver was charged with a DWI, reckless driving, no drivers license and no seat belt.
