A man and his girlfriend were both charged after trying to force a stranger to give them a ride.
Sherman Severn, 31, and Destiny Hogan, 21, walked up to a car parked at 10th and Spring Friday morning and banged on the window, demanding a ride. Severn told Hogan to get into the car, but the driver protested.
Severn lifted up his shirt and said “don’t talk to my girlfriend that way,” the victim told police. The victim thought he saw the handle of a gun in Severn’s waistband. Severn walked away, and Hogan left the victim’s car to follow.
Police found the couple at 11th and Duluth a short time later. No weapons were found, but Hogan did have meth.
Severn was charged with aggravated assault. Hogan was charged with possession of a controlled substance, paraphernalia and criminal entry of a motor vehicle.
