Canine officer bites suspect in Sioux Falls

Posted: Updated:

A man who refused to cooperate with Sioux Falls police was subdued by a canine officer Sunday evening.

Thomas Jerome Williams, 47, was asked to leave an apartment complex by the owner when residents reported strange people loitering outside the building. Williams refused to leave and pulled a knife on the owner.

When the building’s owner told Williams he was going to call police, Williams left the area – but police had already arrived. Williams wouldn’t put his knife away and the canine officer was released.

Williams was treated for minor bite wounds and charged with aggravated assault, obstructing police, resisting arrest and failure to vacate. His companions were not charged, but one was taken to Detox.
