Annette Bosworth launched an attack ad against one of her fellow candidates today -- the first ad of its type in this year's election.
The ad attacks former Governor Mike Rounds for commuting Joaquin Ramos' sentence, while Rounds was in office. Ramos was sentenced to 150 years in prison for manslaughter in 1994.
Rounds' campaign manager told KSFY News "Bosworth's ad is a lie."
Bosworth stands by her ad, though, saying, "Mike Rounds is an irresponsible liar," and goes on to add it's "an insult to voters and the victim's family that Mike Rounds isn't taking responsibility for his actions."
Bosworth and Rounds are running against Jason Ravnsborg, Stace Nelson and Larry Rhoden in the June 3 Republican primary.
The winner of the primary will go on to run against Independent candidates Larry Pressler, Clayton Walker and Gordon Howie, and lone Democratic candidate Rick Weiland.
