Renovations to popular roller coaster complete

Posted: Updated:
Arnolds Park Amusement Park will be opening its door this Saturday.

Renovation on the world's second largest wooden roller coaster, 'The Legend', is now complete.

'The Lenged' is celebrating its 88th year of providing thrills to all of its riders. Riders can expect a much different experience this year when they buckle up.
"When you get on there and feel how smooth that ride is, it is absolutely fabulous. The guests this year, when they ride the coaster, they're just going to be amazed that the difference in how smooth the ride is," said Di Lorenzen, marketing and communications manager at Arnolds Park Amusement Park.

The first phase of the renovation started two winters ago.

"The first third of it was new last year and then you got to ride the rest of it the old crickety rickety way," said Lorenzen.

But this year, that crickety rickety is gone.
"But now the whole thing is just a smooth ride," said Lorenzen.

"All these curves in here and going around to the back of the train tunnel and going into where you go over to lower park and upper park, that was all stuff this year," said Lorenzen.

There's a lot of nostalgia here. That park will be celebrating 125 years next year.

"And it's just so fun to see these people talk about, 'Oh, I remember when I was a kid and I rode the roller coaster,' so were so excited to have those people come back," said Lorenzen.

The Arnolds Park Amusement Park opens this Saturday at 10 a.m. and is open until 7 p.m.

Each year year, there are around 250,000 people who make their way through the park and around 120,000 people ride the roller coaster.
