Aberdeen woman dies in Gregory County car accident

Posted: Updated:
An Aberdeen, S.D., woman died in a two-vehicle crash on a gravel road southwest of Gregory Saturday. The driver of the second vehicle is still fighting for his life.

Ashley Aneas Rosand, 30,  of Aberdeen was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina westbound on 292nd Street. At the crest of a hill, her vehicle collided with a 1992 Ford Explorer driven eastbound by Robert Dennis Watson, 62, of Dallas, S.D. Highway Patrol Officers say both vehicles were partway over the center of the roadway at the time of the crash.

Rosand was dead when law enforcement arrived at the scene. Watson was taken to a Gregory hospital and then transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious injuries. Initial investigation indicates neither driver was wearing a seat belt.

No further information is immediately available. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Gregory County Sheriff’s Office, Gregory Fire and Rescue and Gregory Ambulance assisted.
