South Dakota voter registration ending for June 3 primary

Posted: Updated:
PIERRE -- Monday is the last day for South Dakotans to register to vote in the June 3 primary election.

State law requires that county auditors receive registration forms 15 days before elections.

The June 3 primary will include a race between five Republicans for the U.S. Senate nomination. Democrat Tim Johnson is vacating that seat.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard will face Republican challenger Lora Hubbel. And Democrats Joe Lowe and Susan Wismer will face off for their party's nomination for governor.

Several races for the state legislature will also have primary elections. Democrats and Republicans can send one candidate for state Senate and two for state House in each district.

Registered voters must bring photo identification to the polls or sign a personal identification affidavit.
