Nice weather is here and car sales are on the rise this Memorial Day weekend

Posted: Updated:

Car salesmen across the country have seen an increase in sales already this year. "We're ahead of where we were last year, and we hope to increase that as the year goes on," car salesman Brad Freidel said. Memorial weekend is one of the biggest weekends for car sales, and salesmen are ready.

"Memorial day is usually pretty big. It's kind of kicking off the summer season. Most folks are planning out there summer, what they are going to do, their trips stuff like that. People are looking to upgrading this time of year," Chrysler Center sales manager Toby Emery said.

While people head to upgrade this year they may be a little more cautious. Already this year General Motors has initiated 30 safety and noncompliance recalls. When such a large number of cars have to head to the shop, the dealer is in charge of supplying that customer with a temporary car. This has caused a lot of problems throughout the U.S.

"The service department will make every effort to get it fixed as soon as possible. The problem you run into with something on this scale, is you need parts for that. If you run into supplier issues like that, it can create quite a log jam," Emery said.

Emery says at the Chrysler Center in Aberdeen, they haven't had any issues. "We've been fortunate as far as not having any type of mass deal like this. None of our product lines have been to where it makes the customer uncomfortable to be in the car," he said. With some nice weather Emery said he thinks they will have yet again good sales this holiday weekend.
