Watertown police remind about city's 'offensive matter' ordinance

Posted: Updated:

A reminder for Watertown residents from the local police department: It's against the law to have 'offensive matter' on your property.

Sgt. Troy VanDusen says any "items that are unsightly and do not keep with the cleanliness, neatness and good taste in the particular neighborhood" are illegal under city law. "This includes abandoned junk, foul odors, dismantled automobiles and parts," he said.

Watertown police will be patrolling and enforcing this ordinance throughout the summer.
