Thune takes high tech companies, FCC on a tour

Representatives from AOL, Yelp and Facebook and two members of the Federal Communications Commission are in Sioux Falls.
They joined Sen. John Thune Thursday on a tour of businesses that rely heavily on the Internet.
Thune's the ranking member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, which oversees Internet issues.
Leigh Freund with AOL Inc. says the company sees the Republican as an ally because of his support for the technology industry and desire for minimal regulation.
Karla Santi with Blend Interactive in Sioux Falls says her Web design and development company has clients around the U.S. and internationally, so she supports an open Internet.
The FCC is taking comments on regulations that would create fast lanes for Internet traffic from websites that can afford to pay for it.
