National Weather Service issues flash flood watch for parts of SD

Posted: Updated:

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A flash flood watch has been issued for some southeast and east central areas of the state.

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says pockets of one to two inches of rain fell from Kingsbury County down to Hutchinson County Friday and early Saturday morning. Although not widespread, the service says they are expecting more rain in the same areas Saturday afternoon and possibly into the evening.

The areas most prone to flash flooding or urban flooding will be flat and low lying locations. Areas with poor drainage are also at risk.

Kingsbury, Miner and Sanborn counties are the east central cities included in the watch. Davison, Hanson and Hutchinson are the southeast cities.

The flash flood watch lasts until 1 a.m. Sunday.
