South Dakota panel sets hearing on 12 gambling rule changes

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota oversight commission will hear public testimony on 12 proposed gambling rule changes and additions.

The Commission on Gaming will hold the hearing before its quarterly business meeting Wednesday.

Two new rules relate to a law effective July 1 that makes it a misdemeanor to enter a casino while banned by the "exclusion list." Two others would authorize new games, including a hybrid game of blackjack and war.

Deadwood casino general manager Tony Sieber requested the rule change for the new game. He says it has been popular in California and Nevada.

Another new rule would keep people from communicating by cellphone mid-game.

Gaming Commission Executive Secretary Larry Eliason says rule changes take three to four months to finalize.
