Minnesota priest admits to abusing several teens decades ago

Posted: Updated:

A priest at the center of a lawsuit against church officials in the Twin Cities and Winona admits he sexually abused at least 10 teens from the 1960s to the mid-1980s.

In a sworn deposition released Wednesday, Thomas Adamson also says he attempted inappropriate contact with even more teens.

The deposition shows that when church leaders got a report of abuse, they moved Adamson to other parishes or sent him to treatment, but never asked about other victims.

Adamson is involved in a lawsuit that alleges church leaders created a public nuisance by keeping the names of accused priests secret.

An attorney representing Adamson at the deposition had no comment. The Winona diocese didn't immediately return a message.

Adamson was removed from active ministry in 1985 and defrocked in 2009.

The entire deposition transcript and video clips are available on the Jeff Anderson & Associates website. (WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT IN TRANSCRIPTS AND VIDEOS)
