Despite the chilly weather, there will be a ski show tonight in Aberdeen, and a world champion skier will be performing.
Keith St. Onge has been barefoot skiing since he was 9 years old. He continued to ski himself to 13 gold medals at the World Barefoot Championships, and he is a 14 time reigning national overall champion.
This week out at Mina lake he's using his profound talent to help others. He has been instructing and giving lessons to people interested in barefooting. He says the most important part is proper technique. "The best thing to to to learn how to barefoot water ski is to get instruction. Mostly because it is a very technical sport, and you are on very small surface area, so you definitely want instruction. It just makes life a lot easier," Keith said.
Keith lives in Winter Haven, Fla., so he can ski year round. He says he tries to make it up to South Dakota at least once a year to teach skiing. After his performance in Aberdeen he will be heading to a lake in Minnesota. If you are interested in learning more about skiing, Keith encourages you to check out the youtube.com channel, "World Barefoot Center."
