State fixes speed limit in hot spot for tickets

State officials have corrected a speed-limit snafu in a hot spot for speeding tickets in western South Dakota.

Rapid City officials acknowledge that a short section of Interstate 90 near Box Elder is a 75-mph zone, not a 65-mph stretch as signs have indicated.

Officers make frequent stops in that stretch as they sit in the median of the highway where the speed limit goes from 75 to 65 mph. The area in question is a  1.3 mile stretch of the 65 mph zone that starts west of Rapid City and ends less than a half mile east of Exit 67.
