29 years since All-Star Game last played in Minnesota

Posted: Updated:

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The last time baseball's All-Star Game was in Minnesota, Pete Rose was still playing, the Metrodome was brand new and it cost $2 to watch the home run derby.

A lot has changed in 29 years.

In 1985, state officials expected 30,000 visitors to spend between $15 million and $18 million. This year, the Minneapolis Area Convention and Visitors Bureau projects the four-day All-Star Game events will give the city a $75 million economic boost and draw 160,000 visitors.

The game package for Twins season ticket holders starts around $400 and can run as high as $1,400.

All-Star Game events kick off on July 11. The All-Star game will be played July 15.
