Southbound lanes of I-29 south of Sioux Falls are open; northbound lanes still closed

The southbound lanes of Interstate 29 south of Sioux Falls are open for travel effective immediately, according to state officials.

Northbound lanes of I-29 remain closed as officials assess possible damage tot he roadway from flash flooding Monday evening.

Officials also caution travelers that S.D. Hwy. 46 is covered in water at the Iowa state line. S.D. Hwy 19A near Centerville is also covered; flaggers are helping control traffic in the area.

Although the interstate is partially open, motorists are urged to travel with caution and to visit safetravelusa.com/sd or to call 511 to check the latest road conditions in their area.
