I-90 open in southwest Minnesota

Posted: Updated:
Interstate 90 and all state highways in Rock and Nobles county in southwest Minnesota are open to traffic after being closed temporarily due to flooding.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, several highways were closed Monday night into Tuesday morning after becoming inundated by water. Impacted highways include I-90, Hwy. 75, Hwy. 23, and Hwy. 91.

State officials are reminding drivers it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.

Check www.511.mn.org before traveling for information on road conditions, closure, and detour routes.
