Soldiers wrap up work in tornado-ravaged Wessington Springs

South Dakota National Guard soldiers have left Wessington Springs after spending about a week helping clean up in the tornado-ravaged town.
   
Mayor Melissa Mebius says the soldiers are no longer needed, and they left on Tuesday.
   
The June 18 tornado damaged dozens of homes and businesses. Mebius says most of the major debris has been picked up, and many of the damaged houses have been torn down.

Volunteers have flocked to the town to help with cleanup. The Red Cross has handed out about 37,000 meals, a Sioux Falls church has donated 10,000 bottles of water and a Mitchell boutique has started a toy drive.
