FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A man convicted in the November stabbing deaths of his ex-girlfriend and another man in Fargo could face life in prison without parole.

David Stevens is scheduled for sentencing Friday afternoon. He pleaded guilty in January to killing 23-year-old Samantha Wickenheiser, of Fargo, and 30-year-old Ward Berg, of Moorhead, Minnesota, in Wickenheiser's north Fargo apartment.

Stevens' wife told police the pair drove from Brookings, South Dakota, to Fargo the night of the killings because Stevens wanted to pick up clothing from the apartment. Investigators say David Stevens brought two knives with him.

Prosecutors say Stevens deserves the maximum penalty to "bring some measure of justice" in the case.
