Canton family's home flooded

Posted: Updated:
One Canton family is still not back into their home but they're working hard to put the pieces back together.

"The road over there actually caved in which caused Beaver Creek to come down. That's kind of what broke in our basement. This is just where the heaviest of the water came in and knocked down the basement. That's a mess. It's just been a crazy last week and a half trying to get everybody back on track," said Kasi Roberts, whose home flooded.

Right now Roberts and her family are staying with her sister. When they will be able to move back in -- she says she has no idea. Trying to explain to her kids what happened has been the toughest part.

"I  think they're confused. They think its kind of fun staying at Aunt Stacys. It's kind of a camp out now but I think they'll be happy when we can get back home and get on our normal routine again," said Roberts.

The whole family is doing their part to clean up what the flood left behind.

"We're just glad everybody's safe and nobody got hurt during it," said Roberts.

The family does have flood insurance but they're not sure how much of it will be covered yet. An engineer is coming on Monday to assess the damages.
