While it may be hard to believe, a new school year is just 6 weeks away! Until then, KSFY News and The Salvation Army are teaming up for a Back to School Clothing Drive for elementary and middle school children across the Sioux Empire.
In the past, The Salvation Army has referred people to its Thrift Store for children's clothing. During the months of July and August, the store saw an increase of $8,000 in sales in the clothing department alone due to referrals for clothing from the Social Services office. Now that the store closed in February, The Salvation Army is concerned about filling that need. Organizers are hoping this clothing drive will help families continue to depend on The Salvation Army for assistance as a new school year begins.
The Back to School Clothing Drive begins Tuesday, July 1 and runs through the entire month of July. Organizers are collecting new or gently used clothing donations for children in elementary and middle school. Drop off locations are listed below:
300 N. Dakota Avenue
Sioux Falls, SD 57104
The Salvation Army
800 N. Cliff Avenue
Sioux Falls, SD 57105
Drop off weekdays: 9 a.m.-Noon, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
