PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A highway engineer from Pierre has been selected for induction into the South Dakota Transportation Hall of Honor for 2014.

Tim Bjorneberg spent 31 years with the South Dakota Department of Transportation, beginning his career in a field office in Yankton in 1980.

He held various positions in Pierre including squad leader, chief road design engineer and state highway engineer. His last six years were spent as the program manager of the office of project development before his retirement in 2011.

The Transportation Hall of Honor recognizes those who have made a lasting, valuable or unique contribution to South Dakota's air, highway or rail transportation system.

The hall dates back to 1972 and now includes 83 inductees.

A banquet to honor Bjorneberg will be announced at a later date.
