Sioux Falls Fourth of July Celebrations

Posted: Updated:
The city of Sioux Falls celebrated Independence Day in a big way Friday, beginning with the annual 5K run/walk down at the Falls.

Hundreds of people also lined Phillips Avenue in Downtown Sioux Falls for the 4th of July parade. This year the route took parade goers right down to Falls Park to enjoy a free meal at the Mayor's Picnic.

"We have people from all over the country, in fact people from all over the world that celebrate this big big day and they do it in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We run, we have a beautiful parade, then we eat like we only do in Sioux Falls and then we celebrate this great tradition that we call the 4th of July," said Mayor Mike Huether.

Sioux Falls Independence day celebrations wrap up with the Jaycee's Fireworks show at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds at dusk.
